Maria Medellin

Associate Director of Faculty and Creative Programs

Maria began her dance training at the age of 10, studying at several renowned Orange County studios including One Performing Arts Center, Irvine Dance Academy, and Focus Dance Center, where she discovered her passion for multiple genres. By her teens, she immersed herself in extensive training and performance opportunities, working with respected choreographers and joining various companies and collegiate teams, including Orange Coast College Dance Team, Irvine Valley College’s Performing Dance Ensemble under the late Marie De La Palme, Elle Vie Dance Company, and several hip-hop collegiate teams and crews across SoCal.

With over 11 years of teaching experience and nine years as a competitive choreographer, Maria has guided dancers across all levels with a focus on strong technique, artistry, and personal growth. Her choreography has earned multiple accolades at both regional and national competitions throughout Southern California, and she takes pride in creating pieces that resonate with audiences while challenging her students to grow.

In the classroom, Maria emphasizes training methods that not only build technical excellence but also prepare dancers to bring confidence, discipline, and artistry onto the stage. Her versatility across contemporary, lyrical, ballet, jazz, and hip hop allows her to connect with dancers in a wide range of styles, inspiring them to explore their individuality while honoring the foundations of the art form.

Above all, Maria is passionate about fostering a supportive environment where dancers can develop their craft, find their voice, and carry the lessons of dance into all aspects of their lives.
