We are committed to providing a safe, positive, and professional training environment for every dancer. Our policies are designed to ensure clear expectations, fairness for all families, and the highest standard of excellence in instruction and community.
By enrolling, families agree to abide by the following Studio Policies.
1. General Policies
- Respect & Conduct: All students, families, and instructors are expected to treat one another with kindness and respect. Disruptive, unsafe, or disrespectful behavior will not be tolerated.
- Attendance: Consistent attendance is critical to student progress. Please arrive 10 minutes before class begins, ready to dance. Students will not be admitted 15 minutes after class begins without prior teacher approval.
- Dress Code: Proper dance attire and shoes are required for all classes. Hair should be neatly secured. General guidelines are below; the detailed dress code for each genre is listed in Section 11 – Attire.
- Personal Belongings: The studio is not responsible for lost or stolen items. Please leave valuables at home.
- Food & Drink: Only water is permitted inside the studio. No gum, snacks, or outside beverages in dance areas.
2. Tuition & Fees
- Monthly Rate: Tuition is billed in equal monthly installments, calculated from the total number of classes in the dance season. Tuition does not vary for months with holidays or five weeks.
- Prorating: Tuition is prorated only for students who enroll mid-month.
- Registration Fee: A non-refundable annual registration fee of $45 per student or $75 per family is due upon enrollment and each year thereafter.
- Costume & Other Fees: Registration, costume, and performance-related fees are non-refundable.
- Drop ins: Drop-in dancers are welcome! Please register and pay for your drop-in class through our website. Dancers who are new to IMDC or have limited experience must email info@iconicmdc.com prior to attending so our faculty can assess proper class placement. Drop-in availability is limited and priority is given to IMDC Training Company dancers enrolled in the class. For prices, refer to our Pricing page located on our website under Studio Policies.
3. Payment & Billing
- Automatic Payments: All families are required to enroll in autopay with a valid credit or debit card on file and cardholders give IMDC permission to charge their credit card or bank account provided. If a card is declined, a valid replacement must be provided by the 5th to avoid late fees.
- Tuition Due Date: Tuition is due on the 1st of each month. Families have until the 5th to resolve payments before a $35 late fee is applied.
- Payment Methods: Visa, MasterCard, and Discover are accepted. Cash or check may be accepted if arranged in advance.
- Late Fee: $35 will be charged for any tuition not processed by the 5th.
- Returned Check Fee: $35 will be charged for any returned checks.
- Credit Card Surcharge: A 2.89% surcharge applies to credit card payments (Visa, MasterCard, Discover). This fee does not apply to debit or ACH/bank transfer payments.
4. Absences & Make-Ups
- No Tuition Credit: No refunds or credits are issued for missed classes.
- Make-Up Classes: Students may schedule a make-up class in a comparable class, subject to availability.
- Must be completed within 2 months of the missed class.
- Make-Ups are only available to currently enrolled students and expire upon termination of enrollment.
- Make-ups are not offered for holidays or studio closures.
5. Class Cancellations (by Student)
- Monthly Classes: To withdraw, families must submit a written notice by email to info@iconicmdc.com no later than the 20th of the month preceding the month they wish to drop. If notice is received after this date, the following month’s tuition is still due. Written notice is required.
- Private Lessons: Must be canceled at least 24 hours in advance to avoid being charged in full. Families must notify both the instructor and the studio. A one-time grace period may be granted at the studio’s discretion.
- Make-Up Classes: See Section 4 above.
- Refunds: See Section 10 – Withdrawal & Refund Policy.
6. Class Cancellations (by Studio)
- If the studio must cancel a class due to instructor illness, facility issues, or other unforeseen circumstances, every effort will be made to provide a substitute or make-up class.
- For weather-related closures, notifications will be posted on the studio website, social media, and via email/text. Make-up classes will be offered when possible.
7. Competitions & Performances
- Participation is optional but requires full commitment once registered.
- Non-Refundable: All competition, costume, instructor, and performance fees are non-refundable once paid, regardless of withdrawal.
8. Private Lessons
- Private lessons are a privilege offered primarily to IMDC students enrolled in our training or competitive programs and paying an unlimited rate.
- Current IMDC Students: $100/hour, $50/half hour.
- Non-Enrolled / Non-Company Dancers: $130/hour, $65/half hour.
- Limited Availability: Company and Universal/Training Program dancers receive scheduling priority.
- Enrollment Requirement: Dancers must be actively enrolled in at least one IMDC class to qualify for ongoing private lessons at the standard rate.
- Scheduling: Must be scheduled at least 24 hours in advance through the office or instructor.
- Payment: Payment is due at booking or 24 hours before the lesson. Lessons will not commence until payment is processed.
- Cancellations: Require at least 24 hours’ notice. Lessons canceled with less notice will be charged in full.
- Attendance: Students arriving late will only receive instruction for the remaining time. Lessons will not be extended.
- Studio Scheduling: All private lessons must be scheduled through the studio and are subject to room availability
9. Additional Fees
- Costumes: Costume fees are separate from tuition.
- Performance Fees: Recital or performance fees may be charged to cover venue and production costs.
- Competition Fees: Competition-related fees are separate from tuition and communicated in advance.
- Cancellation Fee (Group Classes): One month’s tuition will be charged if a student withdraws without providing the required written notice by the 20th of the preceding month.
10. Withdrawal & Refund Policy
- Written Notice Required: Families must provide written notice to withdraw from the studio or any class.
- No Refunds: Tuition is non-refundable once the month/session begins, regardless of attendance.
- Non-Refundable Fees: Registration, costume, competition, recital, workshop/master class, and convention fees are all non-refundable.
11. Attire
- Clothing: Proper attire is required for each genre (leotards, tights, fitted tops, dance shorts, etc.).
- Footwear: Proper shoes must be worn (ballet shoes, jazz shoes, tap shoes, sneakers for hip hop, etc.).
- Hair: Must be neatly secured (bun for ballet, ponytail for other classes unless otherwise specified).
- Jewelry & Accessories: Not permitted if they pose a safety hazard or interfere with movement.
12. Supervision of Students
- Students are supervised during class time only.
- Parents/guardians must drop off and pick up dancers promptly.
- Students under 10 must be escorted by a parent/guardian.
- The studio cannot supervise siblings or friends not enrolled in class.
- Parents may not enter the classroom during instruction but may observe the first and last 5 minutes of class.
13. Photography & Videotaping
- No photography or filming of other students is permitted without authorization.
- The studio reserves the right to photograph or record classes, rehearsals, and performances for promotional use. Enrollment constitutes consent unless a written opt-out is provided.
- Parents may record or photograph only during observation days or public performances, as designated by the studio.
